Frequently asked questions
How do I recover a photo I let go by accident?
When you let a photo go, Sortino moves it to the Recently Deleted album in your iOS Photos app, where it stays for about 30 days. Open Photos, go to Albums → Recently Deleted, and you can restore it from there. Sortino never removes anything permanently on its own.
Where are my photos stored? Do you see them?
Your photos stay on your device. Sortino runs entirely on-device — there are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics looking at your library. I can't see your photos, and neither can anyone else. Nothing about your library ever leaves your phone.
Why does Sortino only show one day at a time?
Decluttering a whole library at once is overwhelming, and most people give up. Sortino gives you a small, finite stack — just today's date across your past years — so the work feels finishable. A few minutes a day, and over time the library gets lighter on its own.
How do I reset and re-review photos I treasured?
Open Settings inside Sortino and choose Reset treasured photos. That clears the "treasured" marks so those photos can appear again on future days. Photos you previously let go stay let go — resetting only affects what you kept.
Why don't I get notifications?
Sortino is meant to be a calm, opt-in habit, not another app fighting for your attention. If you'd like a daily nudge, enable notifications under Settings → Notifications → Sortino on your iPhone, then turn the daily reminder on inside the app.
I'm getting an error, or the app won't load photos.
The most common cause is photo library permission. Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Sortino and make sure Full Access is granted — limited access prevents Sortino from showing your "on this day" photos.
